This is a true story originally passed along by a man by the name of Peter H. Verkaik who is a Christian missionary for the Word Of Life organization in Nigeria, Africa.  These events took place in the summer of 2008.  After I first read Mr. Verkaik's story, I immediately thought of Galatians 6:7 in the Bible where it says: "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked.  For whatever a man sows, that will he also reap."

The wealthiest man in Mallam Fatori (a Muslim) decided to host a 3-day festival over the weekend to insight all of the Muslims against the
Christians living and witnessing in the area.  The man gathered all of the Imams (Islamic teachers) together for the festival and they
sacrificed a bull each day.  Prayers were offered up to Allah to put an end to the infidels in their midst.  Of course, the Christians in the area
were very afraid and were praying constantly for God to protect them.

After the festival was over, the wealthy man decided to go hunting.  He successfully shot an animal but when he laid his shotgun down to
retrieve the animal, the gun went off and shot the man dead!  This act of God struck total fear in the hearts of the Muslims in Mallam Fatori!
They realized that this man was “campaigning” against Christians and was now dead by an act of God.  As you can imagine, the Christian
people who prayed for protection are very relieved at the interesting way God decided to answer their prayers.  They were definitely not
praying for this man’s death – all of us Christians desire that everyone would come to know Christ before they die.  However, this act of God
will now serve as a warning to Muslims in Mallam Fatori.
God is amazing and we stand in awe of His mighty works!  This event reminds me of a passage in Exodus where God told this to Moses
concerning the Egyptians:

“And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid.  Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you
today…The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”  (Exodus 14:13, 14 NKJV)

This miraculous event in Mallam Fatori is graphic evidence of what God will do when His people pray.
